Dear Scholars,
I am going to try to do this to help us all be on the same page for the week and get the most out of our time together!
The only thing that needed for "Sunday after 10" pick up and drop off time is for scholars who are ALL VIRTUAL TO DROP OFF MATERIALS WE HAVE FINISHED USING* (see below) , and for them to turn in completed work that has been requested. Work that has been assigned since our return to school January 11, should be turned in to me. (All work from before the break was supposed to be turned into me December 18th. I still have scholars who have not turned in all of this work, and would like them to do so, but I am not chasing this down any more.)
There is only one new printout for this week and that is the Poster Problem. I will hand this out to scholars in class when they come for Hybrid study. Virtual Scholars can pick this up when they drop off work. It can also be printed by you from home. It is just one page.
PLEASE READ COMPLETELY.
You will need to have the following materials with you for school this week, regardless of where you are studying
Always: Red Math folder, Green Science folder, Purple Homework/Communication Folder, White 3 Ring Binder Math, Whiter 3 Ring Binder Science, Planner, Green Science Log
*The handouts that you have been given should be organized into the folders and notebooks according to subject. If it is work that has yet to be assigned, please hole punch it, and put it into the white notebook for that subject behind a divider that says "Work Yet To Be Assigned." I will have more dividers for folks who need them. (I have white notebooks for Drew, Brady and Juliet)
In your materials bin, please have the following items for this week: Your deck of cards, your base ten set, your Cuisinaire Rods (cleaned from the tacky putty of Rod Dogs) Your two frogs- (plastic and jumpy one) sharpie marker, highlighter, gluestick, pencils, colored pencils, chalk, test tube or jar with liquid,
You need to have the WEATHERING mini book.
THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS IMPORTANT SO I AM HIGHLIGHTING AND CAPITALIZING. I am not yelling.
I NEED TO KNOW THE COLOR YOU WANT FOR YOUR WATERCOLOR PENCIL FOR THE COLOR VERSE POEMS. VIRTUAL SCHOLARS NEED TO TELL ME ASAP SO I CAN GET IT READY FOR YOU! HYBRID SCHOLARS MAKE SURE YOU KNOW ON THE DAY YOU COME TO SCHOOL. *LUKE YOU ARE MISSING CLASS ON TUESDAY SO YOU NEED TO TELL ME YOUR COLOR AND PLAN TO PICK IT UP THURSDAY.
ALL POETRY IS DUE IN FINAL DRAFT FORM FEBRUARY 19TH. YOU NEED TO CREATE A GOOGLE FOLDER (SEE THE VIDEO I SHARED) AND SHARE IT WITH ME. PLEASE DO NOT REQUEST TO DO IT DIFFERENTLY FROM THIS. I NEED TO MAKE IT EASY ON US ALL, INCLUDING ME.
SCIENCE BUSINESS:
YOU NEED TO RETURN ALL ROCKS THAT WERE LOANED TO YOU- The Four Rocks, Black and Brown Rock and Hide and Go Seek Rock
YOU NEED TO RETURN THE PLASTIC JAR THAT WE USED TO MODEL WEATHERING.
YOU NEED TO RETURN THE FILM CANISTERS AND THE SILLY PUTTY.
YOU NEED TO RETURN ANY MATERIALS YOU MAY STILL HAVE FROM GOM OR PLATE MOTION- EVIDENCE CARDS, EVIDENCE GRADIENTS, RING OF FIRE MAPS
LAST CALL FOR THE FOLLOWING: These ARE GRADED ASSIGNMENTS and scholars who fail to turn these in on Sunday, Tuesday or Wednesday of this week will receive a ZERO!
VISION BOARDS
If you have already brought in your board, had it on display and then took it back home, I have already marked yours and you are just fine for your board. Some of you did not have your goals on your board though and you also did not share the goals with me. You need to send me an email with your goals attached or share as google doc, and you need to show me your goals attached to the back of your vision boards. This you can do over Zoom by showing me in class this week before Wednesday.
GOALS FOR 2021- ALL SCHOLARS SHOULD HAVE SHARED THEIR GOOGLE DOC WITH ME! IF YOU HAVE NOT, DO SO! I NEED A PRINT OUT OF EVERY SCHOLARS GOALS SEPARATE FROM THE ONE YOU WILL ATTACH TO YOUR VISION BOARD. IF YOU NEED ME TO PRINT THE ONE FOR YOUR VISION BOARD, REQUEST SO IN AN EMAIL OR I WON'T BE ABLE TO KEEP TRACK.
ROCK PORTRAITS ON CARDBOARD
Thanks for making through to the end of the LONG email! I hope this helps us to have a really great and productive week!
Warmly,
Carol Smith
