Dear Scholars and Families,
At the beginning of the school year, JCS Mountain Oaks gives an online assessment to give us information about your child's current skill levels to help us set goals for his/her learning.
We will be using the NWEA MAP assessment and conducting testing from the comfort of your own home. We've attached the guidelines for testing at home, but the most important item is that your student is rested and works independently with as few distractions as possible. Please help us ensure test validity by letting your child take the test without assistance. It is important for us to assess your child’s skills accurately.
We will begin testing this week in both classes for 6th grade, mathematics and ELA. The plan is to give the math test during math class Wednesday, and a reading test which will be given during ELA class, on Tuesday. There are approximately 43-53 questions on each test. We will assess once in the Fall and again in the Winter and Spring.
This year we will access the test through the NWEA website. Students will also use the same device to login to their Zoom Classroom. We will be going over the procedure tomorrow in class.
Students have an assignment to check their computer or Chromebook to make sure it meets the technical requirements. Please go to Check my Computer. Please let me know if your device does not pass.
If your child has not taken the MAP test or would like a review on what the test looks like, we recommend you go to the Practice Test .
Enter the username and password: grow (same for both)
You then select grade level, subject, language, test.
We've attached the Family Remote Testing Guidance document and the Family Guide to Map Growth to help guide you.
Please let us know
Have a wonderful evening!
