I grew up in New Jersey where he was raised by a dad who always reminded me of how cool it would be to become a teacher. Both of my sisters took my dad's advice and eventually, I did too! In New Jersey, I developed my love for surfing and the ocean, fishing and other outdoor activities, as well as reading, writing, and foreign language. I left for the University of Rhode Island with the idea of becoming an educator and traveling the globe.
During my college years, I interned at a few different schools while majoring in Spanish with the idea of becoming a Spanish teacher. I traveled throughout Europe while studying Spanish in San Sebastian, Spain. Immediately after college, I resided in Costa Ria, where I got my first teaching job at an international private school called The Country Day School, Guanacaste. It was during this year that my love for teaching grew rapidly as I quickly learned all the challenges and successes that come along with the job.
I am currently in my 5th year of teaching middle school at Phoenix Learning Center. In my 5 years, I have taught Spanish, Language Arts and History to 6th, 7th and 8th grade scholars. Currently I am teaching 6th grade Language Arts and History along side of Mrs. Carol Smith, who teaches Math and Science.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy hobbies such as surfing, snowboarding, fishing, camping, reading, writing, speaking Spanish, playing music, and traveling to new and exciting locations. I try to combine my passion for these hobbies into some of the lessons I teach in order to help engage my students in their learning. Connecting well with my students, getting them engaged in their work, and pushing them to think critically and creatively is what I love most about teaching and I look forward to doing this year with my 6th graders!
